Digital or traditional, the basics of marketing have not changed since Oog and Ogg crawled out of their cave and began dickering over a stone ax-head. Here are some of the rules for marketing success in any age.

WII-FM

That’s everybody’s favorite radio station – What’s In It for Me. Benefits (that’s in it for me) are the basis of all marketing. Benefits are why people buy. They’re the difference in their life that buying from you will make.

Benefits are not features. Those are characteristics of your product, service or company.

Benefits are not applications. That’s how people use whatever you sell them.

Benefits are the difference in their life that happens because they purchase something from you. Tell people how they will benefit and they will from you. It’s nearly that simple.

The Law of Horn Tooting

No matter how much you wish it were so, people do not just automatically wake up one morning and decide to buy from you. They have to hear about you first. They have to know what you do and how buying from you will benefit them.

No matter how much you wish it were so, the only person you can count on to tell your story is you. Sure, your customers might say good things about you, but you count on that.

No if your horn is going to get tooted, it’s to figure that you will be doing the tooting. That’s the Law of Horn Tooting: Toot thine own horn for thou canst not count on another to toot thy horn for thee.

The Magic Stone of Marketing

There may be magic in a young girl’s heart, but very magic in marketing. Despite how consultants and motivational speakers may make it seem, you’re just going to have to work at it. There’s no one, or even two, easy things that will suddenly, completely, and permanently make your marketing effective.

No, if there is a magic stone of marketing it is this: do the basics with unremitting diligence. And what are those basics, I hear you cry.

You must get your message out so that people recognize your name and associate it with what you do and with what makes you different.

You must identify prospects and convert a goodly number of them into buyers.

You must tell folks about the benefits of buying from you. This is all folks, customers and prospects alike. Remember the Law of Horn Tooting. Don’t figure that just because you’ve given folks good service, they’ll remember the next time ready to buy.

You must deliver on your promises. If you do this, nothing else really matters much.

You must stay in touch. If you are not talking to your best customers and prospects you won’t know what their really are. You will not know when they have a issue with your products or company. And you be able to tell them about the neat new product or service that’s perfect for them.

There are other things you should do, like having special programs to get that critical second order, making things increasingly simple for customers and prospects, and paying attention to your most valuable customers. None of these things, alas, is magic.

Riley’s Rule

When he was a National Basketball Association coach, Pat Riley used to have a saying: “No rebounds, no rings.” In other words, if you do not do the important work, you will not be a winner. We can translate that into business terms.

No marketing, no money. Marketing is not a campaign, initiative or program that you get done with. It’s the way you do business. Every day. Every week. Every month. Forever.

KISS Principle I

You know this one. It’s been a staple of motivational speakers and sales trainers for years. Keep It Simple, Silly. You may alternative the S word of your choice for the final word in that sentence.

Keep it easy because complexity makes you work harder for the same results. When I was starting out in business, the company I was with made us chant 8-4-2 until it bubbled up from our subconscious unbidden.

The chant meant this. Make eight sales calls every business day. A call was where you actually talked to the customer, not just left your card. Demonstrate the product four times a day. Close two sales a day.

Simple, eh? It is. But it kept us focused on the basics. And people who followed the rule tended to be successful.

KISS Principle II

This one is Keep It Smart, Silly. Play the odds.

Pay attention to the customers and the best prospects. Pareto is still right; you’re going to eighty percent or so of your results from around twenty percent of your customers and prospects.

If you done it already, make up an A-B-C of customers and prospects. Then work that list, paying attention to the customers and prospects with the most potential.

And do it right. Make sure you call on your best prospects and customers enough to get the business you need from them.

In the early Twentieth Century, writer Ring Lardner put it this way: “The race may not always be to the swift, nor victory to the strong. But the way to bet.”

Kiss Principle III

This principle is a different. This principle is not an acronym. This principle is about real kisses.

Answer this question. Where are you most likely to get your next kiss? Will it be from a random sample of people you meet on the street? Or will it be where you got your last kiss?

Odds are that your next kiss will come from the place you got your last kiss. Now replace the word “kiss” with the word “sale.”

People who’ve bought from you before are the most likely to from you again. Even more, selling to them is more efficient. It costs five times less in terms of money, time and effort to get a sale from an existing customer than it does to create a new customer.

And it gets better. Existing customers are likely to purchase more and more profitable items the longer they remain customers.

So romance those current customers. Show them how much you love them.

The Iron Law of Responsibility

It’s up to you. You’re responsible. If your customer makes a bad decision and buys from the competition, it’s your fault.

It’s not your customer’s fault. They made the best decision they could in their situation with they knowledge they had available. If they have the right information, you should have told them. If they needed to decide right away, you should have been available to help.

It’s not the world’s fault, or the market’s fault, or your competitor’s fault. You are the only one responsible for the results of your marketing.

It’s up to you to share the benefits, toot your horn, and keep after the basics of marketing day after day. It’s up to you to keep it easy and smart. It’s up to you to romance your customers. It’s simple, really, but it’s not easy, and it hasn’t changed for centuries.

8 Ways To Motivate & Improve Staff Performance A stronger economy means more opportunities for you, and your staff. How do you keep them from looking for greener grass? Provide staff assistance, opportunities for enrichment, and an environment that increases enthusiasm. The processes of involvement, observation, interaction, and feedback build the foundation necessary for staff engagement, involvement, and motivation. The key is to create a staff-keeping environment now. Here are 8 key steps to take:

1. What you do vs. what you say.
You are the company compass and barometer. What you say, indicate, espouse, or demand of others must match what you do. Being an involved, observant, available, and caring manager or owner sets the standard of behavior for others.
2. Share goals
If you hate to be on the outside looking in, don’t you think others might feel the same? Bring staff in by sharing departmental or company goals. The journey you have in mind may be one that creates excitement and enthusiasm in them too.
3. Solicit feedback
They say two heads can be better than one. Sometimes we can be too close to a situation to see it from multiple angles. Soliciting feedback can offer different perspectives. It also provides staff with an opportunity to actively participate in company planning and changes, and allows you to experience different aspects of them, and vice versa.
4. Observe
“A picture is worth a thousand words.” What you see when staff are working, relaxed, celebrating, or operating to meet a deadline are the scenes that truly describe how your organization works. The ways in which people act (and interact), speaks volumes about an organization. Observing, allows you to see what’s working, and where change may be needed.
5. Cross-training
Walking a mile in someone’s shoes not only allows you to experience what they experience, but it can be the root of empathy. A cross-training program allows workers to experience other responsibilities and departments within the organization. It also prepares the organization for staff shortages, and allows workers to take a break from the routine of their regular tasks.
6. Relate to individual goals
Organizational goals can often be in alignment with the goals of individuals within the organization. Support individuals toward attaining their goals. The direction they are headed, may be exactly where you have a current or future need
7. Open communication
It is important for staff to feel they can communicate their suggestions, concerns, successes, and misses, without fear of retribution. Assure staff they will be heard, acknowledged, and supported. Then, make sure you do exactly that.
8. The Final Piece
In a recent study conducted by Nelson Motivation Inc, “78 percent of employees indicated that it was “very” or “extremely” important to them to be recognized by their managers when they do good work, and 73 percent said they expected that recognition to occur either “immediately” or “soon thereafter.” Of the top 10 recognition factors staff ranked as important when they did good work, 4 were types of praise – personal, written, electronic, public – generated by those they hold in high esteem.”

If this is the first marketing article you are reading, go find some other more basic articles that I have written and then come back. This data is for the intermediate to advanced marketers.

I want to go over a three-step outline for your marketing which are:

1)Surveys

2)Getting Attention

3)Postage

Marketing surveys save you from flying blind in your business marketing strategies and are the best way to find out what you should be offering, to whom and how. When you don’t really know what to put in your direct mail marketing it’s because you done your research.

In order to get the response you would like on your direct mail marketing campaign, one area you need to look at is whether or not you are using a survey to find out what to state to your public. You may immediately answer “No – I do not survey.” But truthfully, it’s very possible you do and just do not realize it….read on.

You know your market quite well because you already sell to them. You’re unwittingly surveying all the time. Take this example:

An optometrist has an optical boutique. He knows that the biggest market for his eyewear are women from the ages of 40 to 65 years old. How does he know that? His women’s frame inventory is constantly being restocked fives times more than his men’s frame stock or even children’s. And the types of women’s frames are ones compatible with no-line bifocals. Interesting! Let’s look at what else this optometrist knows. He knows that these women pay a higher price point for their eyewear because the products he keeps reordering are from the more upscale designers so these women probably have more discretionary income. That is what I mean by surveying unwittingly.

Now let’s take an example where you are sure you have no data:

You are a mortgage broker and you know what to state to people to get them to refinance their property, yet this is the area you specialize in. You assume that the deal will attract more customers. You conduct a marketing survey, or get a marketing survey conducted for you that asks people indirectly for their attitudes and emotions concerning refinancing and what would be the advantages and disadvantages. You find the majority of people would like to refinance but think it is a very complicated procedure and so they never try. From this information you are able to determine what the tone and message of your advertising should take.

So, what should your promotion say? How about “We’ll take the hassle out of refinancing for you. Find out how.” You will get a response. You could send out thousands of promotional pieces telling your prospects that you can get them the lowest rate, but that is not their concern. Their concern is that it’s too complicated. Do you see how you could miss? A survey is the answer.

It is smart business to design a survey (or have one designed) to send out to your past customers that will keep you in the know, and not in the dark.

Now let’s go into the next logical sequence of how to break the first barrier of getting attention, so the “button” you found from your survey hits them before they throw away your promotion before ever even reading it.

Ditch the Envelopes!

The most common question that is asked when dealing with direct mail is “How do I get their attention?” This is a major because, no matter what you do to them, most envelopes look basically the same. Print on them in color, make a window, stamp it urgent – your customers have seen all these tricks before. They get thrown away before they’re even opened. They can tell from the outside that it is a sales pitch and they just get rid of it. This causes you to lose sales because of assumptions made before you even try to get your message across, when if you had the chance to let the customer know what you were offering they might have gone for it. Plain and simple, the easiest way to get around this is by using postcards.

Not only does the full color aspect of postcards attract more attention than all of the envelopes in any given day’s stack of mail, but it will grant you to get your message across while recipients are making the decision of what to read and what to throw away.

Let’s use this example:

You are sitting on the subway and the guy next to you leans over and says “I have something I would like to sell you and it’s under my trench coat, are you interested?” So as any sane person would do, you move to the furthest seat from him so not to be bothered.

As you now sit in the farthest seat from the untrustworthy freak in the trench coat you are approached by a smiling tiny Girl Scout who holds out a box of cookies and says “Would you like to buy a box of cookies? Everyone adores the Thin-Mints!” So this time you pull out your wallet and plunk down the $3 for a box of delicious cholesterol and sugar.

See the difference? Don’t hide your message behind a trench coat. For all we know the “untrustworthy freak”, as I have affectionately named him, could have had a box of Thin-Mints under there.

We may never know, and neither will your customers if you stop stuffing your promo into bland looking envelopes.

Now, make the final step simple and take out the hassle of direct mail.

It’s one thing to get postcards designed and printed. It’s another to get them into the hands of the recipients rapidly, efficiently, as inexpensively as possible and without too much hassle. You have the choice of doing it yourself in house or getting someone to do it for you.

The apparent advantage of doing it yourself is that you pay someone else what they charge to do it for you. The disadvantage of doing it yourself is that it’s going to cost you more in the long run.

Why?

Normally your postage for a 4.25 x 6″ postcard is 23. Direct mail companies can lease special software from the USPS which reads the addresses and barcodes them. The post office gives a significant discount for bar-coded mail. Updating this software often (every three months) ensures that the addresses you are mailing to are good. If the person is no longer at that address then it’s a waste of your money to mail to them.

Because of the high tech equipment and software direct mail companies use, you can sometimes save as much as .04 cents per card. And you do not have all the hassle of getting the mailing out yourself.

I call it a no-brainer: a technical term for saving cash and hassle by getting someone else to do your mailing for you. If you have been doing it the hard way, switch over to a direct mail marketing company. I am sure they will be glad to help you save money, time and trouble.

Don’t rely on your camera’s zoom. Obtain a close as doable before you begin to use your zoom. Zooming in may be helpful, but after an even though the picture could get distorted. You’re far off receiving as close to the subject when you can before you try to zoom in on it.

Take your photos fairly quickly. The longer you hesitate, the much the chance that the subject will move away, break their pose, or become and stop smiling. Six years ago, was broke and unemployed, with less than three weeks until the rent was due. I was desperate to find a job – all you would pay – and took a Greensheet because I could not even afford the Houston Chronicle. I browsed through the Office / Administrative section first, because I was hoping to find at least a temporary job as secretary, and when I called, I turned the page to the section on Marketing. At that time, I had no idea that marketing and sales were not the same thing. My mother always warned me against taking a job that paid by commission only, so it was even reluctant to call any of the positions listed. Most of the wealth that provides instant and incredible business opportunities – ads for jobs that I knew were scams – so I ignored the calls and an announcement of the marketing representatives Bush Intercontinental Airport. As it turns that was the best call I ever made. For more than a year, I worked as a marketing representative for marketing trendline, Inc. My job was to stand in a booth at the airport, talking to people and invite them to join the Continental Chase credit card. We offer free t-shirts and stuffed with planes, bonuses, and people business object traveled thousands of miles a year for their work. I paid $ 10.00 per hour, or $ 2.00 an application, which was higher. Most days, I averaged between 90 and 100 applications a day, which translated to $ 22.00 to $ 25.00 per hour. And all I had to do was sit in a booth! After that, I had the opportunity moving on to bigger and better things. The following year, I traveled with Nascar to thirty-two different cities, marketing Nascar MBNA Visa. The company paid for my airfare, my meals, my rental car, my hotel, and my gas. I made $ 1.50 per application, and an average of 1,300 applications per weekend. I was traveling for free, to live with very little expense, working two days a week, and pulling about $ 80,000 per year. It was amazing. The following year, I traveled with the PGA Champions Tour, and after that, I worked with Toys 'R' Us, Shell service stations and department stores Kohl. It was an amazing experience and I met hundreds of wonderful people. If you are afraid of marketing, and are unsure of their future when pay the fee, you may want to try the credit card marketing industry . Companies around the U.S. are looking for marketing representatives who have no trouble talking with people and have excellent communication skills. There is a large market for people who are bilingual, and people who have a very flexible schedule.

“Any good photography is a successful synthesis of technique and art.” – Andreas Feininger

This article will attempt to help you come to a clearer understanding of the photography schools and colleges available, what they can offer you in terms of photo and arts education, and guide you towards investigating more about specific schools and where you can find out more information.

Photography SchoolsPhotography is a wonderful choice when it comes to a career. Photography is a versatile path that allows you to specify within the degree, and move from different types of photography within your lifetime. From magazine covers to exotic locations to local newspapers, a career in photography will allow you to pick and choose exactly what you want to photograph. However, a career in photography doesn’t happen with well wishes and hopes…you have to work to get there! So where do you begin in your search for photography schools? Right here!

You’ll have to learn about the photography business, learn how to deal with copyright issues and information, manage your photo porfolio and how to work with others in the field. There are many courses in the field of photography taught at many of the schools, teaching you in a variety of areas including:

* Photographic equipment

* Photographic processes

* Photograph techniques

* Color theory

* Special skills

* Digital imaging and photo processing

There are many many more fields available when it comes to your career path in photography, the above were simply some examples.

If you’re passionate about photography and want to pursue this versatile career, it’s important that you take the time to learn from experienced professionals that can guide you in your efforts to pursue professional photography, motion picture and video photography, visual journalism, and thinks like visual communications. What’s great about attending photography schools nationwide is that you dont’ have to begin an expert, you begin a beginner! Many of you are pursuing this field because you have a natural eye for photography, and that’s great – but maybe you’re just developing one. That’s great too! What you probably didn’t know is that photography school will teach you much more than simply how to snap a few brief pictures and dip em in developer. They teach you the scientific processes of film, chemistry, optics, color theory, lighting rations, and digital and computer skills.

You’ll also find collegues and students at your school that share your passion, talents, and skill and want to join in mutual efforts to further your careers. Here are a few photography school frequently asked questions that might help you!

* What is the objective of many photography schools?

* What types of photography might I choose to go into?

* What type of school should I look for?

* What are some of the top schools in the US?

What is the objective of many photography schools?

The objective (or the objective I believe is crucial to selecting a school) of many is to develop photographers that are technically and professionally sound, enabling them to pursue any photographic field and compete in the job marketplace.

What types of photography might I choose to go into?

There are many different types of photography fields, including fasion photography, digital photography, advertising photography, editorial photography, documentary style, wedding photography, portrait photography, or photo technician style work. You’ll be prepared to do any of these with a solid education at a photo college or school.

What type of school should I look for?

My recommendation is a school that teaches nothing but photography! Obviously affordability is important, but a photo only institute is a great way to go!

What are some of the top schools in the US?

There are several wonderful photography schools, but some of ones we’ll choose to highlight are Brooks Institute of Photography and the Art Institute of Colorado. For a more detailed list of Photography schools and information, please click here or continue browsing this article.

Brooks is a world leader when it comes to visual arts and photographic education. You’ll want to find a photography school that helps to meet career oriented needs that you establish before you search. You’ll want one with experience in the field for a long period of time, not just a hokey internet college.

You want want that can offer you a chance to broaden your resume through internships and opportunities. The joy of this career is that you get to turn your photographic ambition into something that pays the bills and you love to do every single day! Who wouldn’t want that! I hope this article has proved even a little helpful, and that you’ll consider going into the wonderful field of photography!

While reading through the steps they were a confusing, so, I found myself figuring out this:

  1. Launch SQL Server Management Studio.  There is a free copy of a 180 day trial in the book for 70-433.
  2. Connect to the local instance (assuming it is local).
  3. Next, start the Configuration Manager.  You can access it by clicking: Start |  All Programs | Microsoft SQL Server 2008 | Configuration Tools | SQL Server Configuration Manager.
  4. When the Snap-In lists the various objects, click the SQL Server Services item.  This will display all services running on the server.
  5. Right click the one call SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER).  The instance name, here listed as MSSQLSERVER, may be different, but, the SQL Server text is what you need to look for.

This will may the first check box, “Enable FILESTREAM for file I/O streaming access”, visible, but, unchecked.
  8. I enabled it and left the Windows Share name the same.  When I clicked the Apply button it created the new share.  I had opened the Server Manager to see if the share existed beforehand, and, it did not. After clicking Apply and refreshing the Shares item (found at Computer Management (Local) | System Tools | Shared Folders | Shares, I now saw a new share: MSSQLSERVER with a filepath of \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\RsFx0102\\MSSQLSERVER.
  9. To make life as simple as possible, I also enabled the “Allow remote clients to have streaming access to FILESTREAM data” option, clicked apply and moved on.
  10. Finally, I opened SQL Server Management Studio (Start | All Programs | Microsoft SQL Server 2008 | SQL Server Management Studio), opened a new query and added the following:
  11. EXEC sp_configure filestream_access_level, 2
    RECONFIGURE
  12. When I was done I F5 and everything successfully.  It printed the following the Messages tab, “Configuration option ‘filestream access level’ changed from 0 to 2.  Run the RECONFIGURE statement to install.

Well, Zoe the pup has taken over our entire lives. She was 8 weeks old yesterday and she is sweet, lovable and exhausting. We do not seem to remember it quite this way from when our old Nike was this age, over 15 years ago. She goes out every 2 hours, which means I have been out in the rain more in the past week than I have been in the past 5 years. She is too to “hold it” at night, so around 2:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., my husband is cleaning out the crate/kennel and walking around outside in his bathrobe. He is very much a person who requires/expects/demands his sleep, so he is looking at me like “why did I let you do this”! She chews on everything, so I’m picking up shoes, power cords and everything else that is not glued down-all day long. She wants so badly for our old dog to play, that she chases her through the house, nipping at her ankles until she gets a warning snarl and then she does it all over again. If Nike could talk, she would be asking when this d*** puppy was going home.      Well, Zoe the pup has taken over our entire lives. She goes out every 2 hours, which means I have been out in the rain more in the past week than I have been in the past 5 years. She is too tiny to “hold it” at night, so around 2:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., my husband is cleaning out the crate/kennel and walking around outside in his bathrobe. He is very much a person who requires/expects/demands his sleep, so he is looking at me like “why did I let you do this”! She chews on everything, so picking up shoes, power cords and everything else that is not glued down-all day long. She wants so badly for our old dog to play, that she chases her through the house, nipping at her ankles until she gets a warning snarl and then she does it all over again. If Nike could talk, she would be asking when this d*** puppy was going home.

The photography industry is one of the most lucrative industries. Many people have decided to enroll in a photography school in order to get hired as soon as they graduated. Enrolling in a top photography school increases the possibility that you will be paid with a higher salary. It be denied. The invention of digital photography was a wonderful thing. Never before has it been so for people to take snapshots of their loved ones – or anything, really – and use them effortlessly in every aspect of life. Printing them out, displaying them proudly on the to share with friends or effortlessly emailing them to friends and family far away, the digital photograph is truly a godsend. But what if that photo you just took is too huge and you need it to be smaller for any myriad of projects you may want to use it for? Don’t worry; this guide is here to help.

There are a lot of programs on the market that can help you swiftly and easily re-size your digital photos, and the best part is that many of them are completely free. However, my favorite method to the size of digital is with the free application that nearly everyone has on their PC: Microsoft Paint.

Resizing in Paint

I like using Microsoft Paint to resize my photos for a number of reasons. First of all, it’s already there on my computer. Second, it’s just easy to use, and it doesn’t have a huge number of functions that can all get confused like bigger image editing programs. So, now here are instructions for using it to resize pictures.

  1. First, find the picture you want to resize, and open it in Microsoft Paint.
  2. Second, on the toolbar at the top, click on ‘Image’. In the menu that drops down, click the ‘Resize/Skew’ option.
  3. A little window should have popped up then. We’re going to focus on the two boxes under ‘Resize’. Now, the way to make the image smaller is to enter a smaller number than 100 into those two boxes. To make it half the size, for example, is to enter 50 in both of those boxes. It’s suggested that whatever number you enter into both of those boxes, you keep it the same for both of them; otherwise your picture may end up becoming distorted.

Fun project ideas!

Now that you have your newly-resized photo, there are a lot of things that you can do with it!

While you’re in Microsoft Paint, for example, you can add text to the picture or draw on it, to give it an even more personal touch.

You can also upload it to the world wide web on any of the multitude of free hosting sites there are out there. That way you can share your with your loved ones from far away.

In that same way, there are some places where you can go to to add special effects to your to glam them up any more.

And of course you can print the out to share them with your friends and loved ones!

We shall explore your next home kitchen improvement proposition. As the experts in Ottawa home improvement we have assisted thousands of home owners create the kitchen of their dreams. When planning your next kitchen renovations it is a good idea to picture your dream kitchen in your head first. By looking through examples from websites, showrooms, home depot, etc. you get a better idea of what you want your kitchen to look like.

Kitchen Cabinetry:

Do you want oak? Vaneer? Pressed wood? Pine? The type of cabinets you choose create the look/feel of your new kitchen. If money is tight in your situation then it would be recommended that you go with a special non-oak cabinet that gives the appearance of oak. This vaneer material gives your kitchen renovation the look and feel of oak without the price of oak, which is perfect for budget conscience customers. The type of wood you choose dictates the wood grain and textures that your kitchen’s character will display. If you are looking for a modern look then perhaps a pine kitchen will suffice if you are looking for a rich looking kitchen then maybe oak is your choice, or maybe you want a contemporary look therefore birch wood would be perfect for you.

Countertop:

The type of countertop you choose will set the overall tone of your new kitchen remodeling project, so it is critical to make the right choice. Whether you go with granite, laminate, or any other stone/solid there is always a cost associated with each material choice. The most costly would be the stone countertops and least costly would definitely be the laminate kitchen counters. Granite and Quartz are the highest you can go for a granite countertop solution. Going with a vinyl/laminate still provides a nice look without hurting the wallet, it would be the cheapest material for countertops.

Kitchen flooring and Accessories

The last, but not least, items to check off your list would be the kitchen floor, the kitchen backsplash, and the kitchen faucets. Choosing wisely will make your kitchen upgrade look like it was made for a prince. Let’s start with the floor, a very common installation for kitchen flooring would be ceramic or porcelain tiles. Installing ceramic stones ensures durability, water protection, and a beautiful kitchen that you will be happy with. It is recommended not to use hardwood flooring due to water damage because of high water exposure. After you have tackled the kitchen tiles you have to decide on what faucets to go with, which is usually very easy because a simple trip to your local hardware store will give you more than enough kitchen ideas to work with. Last but not least the backsplash you choose will dictate the accent of your kitchen; you can either go with a simple tile design or a beautiful mosaic finish.

The most popular type of backsplash would definitely the standard ceramic tile with the occasional accent here and there, if you wish to go higher end then mosaic tiles or glass tiles would suit your fancy.

Armed with knowledge about kitchen cabinets, kitchen counter-tops, and kitchen tiles as well as accessories you are well on your way a kitchen design that you can be happy with. If you are thinking of a classic kitchen design or a new kitchen system then the kitchen design ideas expressed in this article should give you some tips/tricks to help you better understand your upcoming kitchen renovations. When planning your next kitchen renovations please consult a trained professional to assist you in avoiding a kitchen nightmare.

When I started this Pinterest Weekly Meal Plan I planned on only doing 4 weeks of meals. I still can’t believe that my family has lasted through 4 weeks of this. I figured that they would give up and beg for cheeseburgers and hot dogs or something like that. I was so proud of them.

Here is what we got to try this week!

Monday – Double Crunch Honey Garlic Pork Chops

These pork chops were so crispy and yummy. Jacob was not a fan of the sauce but Dave and I loved it. We won’t even talk about Paige. She has some weird aversion to pork chops. I really can’t wait to make these again. Maybe we will just make them for the adults next time and make mac & cheese for the kids!

Tuesday – Baked Club Pinwheels

Dave actually made these. He took over a lot of the cooking duties this week because he had been getting home early. It is so nice to be able to share the cooking duties this week! These were very good but there was a little too much bread. Next time we will shove a lot more meat in it (TWSS). Dave said that it did take a while to make this because he had to roll out the dough. This would be a great snack for a tailgate celebration or any kind of party! The children devoured them.

Wednesday & Thursday – Mexican Mac & Cheese Casserole

I was very impressed with this casserole. I wasn’t quite sure how this would turn out and I wasn’t sure if if anyone would like it. I was wrong. Of course Paige didn’t like it, but the rest of the family loved it. It made so much that we ate it for 2 days. I am pretty sure that it tasted even better the second day. I was a little concerned about the green salsa but it was great!

Friday – Chicken Marsala

Dave’s mother makes a very yummy Chicken Marsala with Orzo. She cooks everything and then bakes it together. Dave decided to do that with this recipe too. The chicken and the orzo sucked up a lot of the sauce so I had Dave make a more and it was PERFECT! I have had some different variations of chicken marsala and some of them can be very overpowering. Too much of the Marsala wine taste. If your sauce tastes too strong  just add a tiny extra melted butter to it to calm down the wine taste. I hope that you will enjoy this as much as we did. It was great!

Saturday – Buffalo Chicken Wraps

These were very easy and basic, but still so yummy. We didn’t use mushrooms in ours (even though we LOVE mushrooms) we ended up using bacon. Chicken, cheese and bacon…yes please! These were great and super easy. Of course we had to make Paige’s without the buffalo sauce, but the rest of us enjoy a little spice in our lives! Of course ours didn’t look half as pretty as the photo below but at least they tasted great!

Sunday – Creamy Grilled Chicken Picata

I was hesitant about making this due to the fact that I am not a massive lemon fan, but I knew Dave was so I made it anyways. In the recipe it only calls for 2 chicken breasts (serving size for the whole meal is 2) so I had to double the recipe. This was SO GOOD! The lemon flavoring was not overpowering even though it felt like I put tons of lemon juice in it. My sauce wasn’t quite as creamy as shown in the picture, but Dave and I both preferred it that way. We also didn’t grill the chicken because it was raining outside and I wasn’t going to make Dave stand outside in the rain to cook chicken, so I just cooked it in a skillet.

Of course the children didn’t want to have anything to do with it at first but they did have some and that was all that mattered. I always make them at least try new foods.

Source: Plain Chicken via Pinterest

I know that you are disappointed but I didn’t make any Pinterest desserts this week. I did make some brownies though. I was going through my cupboards and found a box of brownies and a can of chocolate frosting. It was like I punch the jackpot!

Did anyone notice a pattern with these recipes? Most of the were from Plain Chicken. I have peeked at a lot of their recipes and they look great and pretty simple for the most part. I have a feeling that they are going to be my new site for recipes! Along with Pinterest, of course!

I don’t think that I am going to continue doing this every week but it was a great way to try new recipes. We have found so many recipes that we want to use in our regular rotation. We took this week off and decided to just use whatever food we had in the house so there will not be a Pinterest Weekly Meal Plan for next week. But don’t worry, I will still have something for the Pinterest link-up!

First off, I wanted to let you know, I won’t be submitting to the third campaigner challenge. I tried, but I just couldn’t find anything in there that really engaged me, so I’m taking a pass.

And, now, spotlight season continues with Julie Coulter Belton!

How will you know when you’ve reached success as a writer?

For me, there are so many little successes as an author. Finishing a manuscript is a success.  Finding a home for your manuscript is a success.  Holding your book in your hands for the first time is a success.  Finding author friends who understand you is a success.  I think writers have to look at every milestone as a success because there are so many writers out there that don’t even reach the first one.  Celebrate it all!

Where do you get ideas for characters and how do you invent them?
I am a people watcher and often smash a lot of people I’ve met or am acquainted with into a character.  They usually invent with my story and since I write international suspense, and I love action/adventure with a twist so my characters usually have a lot going on with them both on the outside, physically, and on the inside, emotionally, as they go through their ordeal.

Tell us a long and totally untrue story about yourself.
Once, when I was touring the islands of Greece, I had stopped off at the island of Crete after dark and went down the road a ways near the palace of Knossos.  One of the first roads ever built was underneath my feet and the chariot tracks were still visible, even by the of the moon.  I walked to a medium-sized white rock on the side and sat down, and just as I did a horse came clip-clopping out of the darkness.  It was black and majestic and it frightened me a tiny with its size.  I shrank back as it passed and for just a second, I could swear it looked as though someone had been walking behind it and had ducked into the trees.  The horse passed me with barely a glance, but the shadows across the road seemed to be flitting about and my blood began to burn with adrenaline.  I stood, but not before I saw the shadow of a hand with a knife rise up to fall across the rock I had just been sitting on.  I let out a small scream and ran for the safety of my hotel.  True story?  You decide.

I love suspense, writing, reading, meeting new people, and doing random stuff with my husband and eight children. Yeah, eight.  I know, I know, don’t even say it.  My blog is an amalgamation of me and what I like, but if you stop by, I’d love to meet you and have you join in my conversations.  I’ve published traditionally and independently, and am always looking at both sides of the ever-changing publishing landscape. I love sharing my experiences in the writing world and hope you will feel comfortable doing the same.  Come on over!

Thanks for stepping into the spotlight, Julie!

Not everyone is born with a shiny silver spoon in his mouth. Not all the effort can pay thousands of dollars for jewelry. The most expensive diamonds can only be agreed by Trump, Donald and Tom Cruise in the world. For this reason, simulators have been created diamonds. The claim that diamonds are a girl's best friend is not little. Women love shiny things that catches the attention and envy among their peers. If you can provide both have the love of your life in your hands. The first thing to look for is quality, not all fake diamonds are the same. Cubic Zirconium is one of the most renowned diamond substitute, however, is not the best due to its qualities as glass. In other words, simply not enough. You can find almost anywhere in cubic zirconia today, but why do I love you. swiss replica watches

Replica watches have grown to be one of the newest fashions in the design community. These types of watches are an increasingly hot and trendy accessory for people of all ages and occupations. Nowadays, many more individuals wear these kinds of replica watches to try to exhibit their social rank in addition to flaunting their own supreme style for fashion.

These days you might come across replica watches inside virtually any retail store, and there are numerous replica watch stores online as well. Whatever the case may be, if you buy one at a traditional shop or online, you have to be aware of the fraud sometimes connected with these kinds of counterfeit designer watches. A fair amount of shops, though mainly online shops, take part in unscrupulous dealings and market their merchandise at a much greater cost than their true worth. Occasionally, these suppliers are also inclined to sell off low quality replicas that are not actually an honest reproduction of the real design and model.

Unlike purchasing replica watches in a normal retail store, getting cheated is sometimes much more likely if buying through an online store. Hence, to get the top option and also to avoid getting totally ripped off, the following tips and guidance may prove of significant help for when you choose to purchase a replica from a shop on the Internet:

  1. The main method to prevent yourself from being scammed by an online store when buying a brand-name replica watch should be to assess the complete style and design of the website itself. Poorly created websites and pages can often indicate deceptive dealings. One will need to verify any links on that website, and if those links redirect you to any random website or show an error, you had better leave that website and find another one.
  2. Almost all authentic watch replica sellers online possess a photo of the genuine watch in addition to the replica watch in order that the shopper may check out the specifics on their own. When shopping online for a replica watch, one must properly evaluate the picture of it. Make certain that the image has a good resolution and quality, and that it plainly exhibits all of the original watch’s features. The picture needs to give the viewer an unobstructed view of each of the watch’s exterior components. In the event that the photo is blurry or seeking to obscure any significant characteristic on the replica watch, this might point to that online store not being trustworthy. Examine any details provided about the watch. If you happen to uncover any information provided that varies from the official information regarding that model, go look for another online retailer.
  3. Try your best to obtain your watch from an online that features a free service number and live support. You should found out if the phone number is real or not, mainly because many scammers give their contact info only to make potential customers believe that the website is trustworthy. Contact the store via the listed phone number and inquire a bit about the watch you are interested in ordering. In any event, where you are skeptical or distrusting of the representative, you should leave that website immediately.
  4. Prevent paying for your watch via money/bank order considering that there is a major risk of losing your money and never receiving your watch. Credit card or PayPal payment is a much safer choice whenever purchasing anything, especially replica watches, online. Also, be certain that the online store has some sort of refund policy and/or money-back guarantee.

Through following the preceding advice, you can relax in the knowledge that you secured yourself from cheaters and scammers, and you will always have success when buying replica watches.

KEEPING SUMMER SAFE AND FUN

Now that spring has sprung, Summer is just around the bend. This is the time to not only get prepared, but also educated for summers’ blissful heat. Here are some HOT safety tips that will help you to keep your families summer safe and fun even on the hottest of those hot days to come.

Two of the most well known ways of keeping your child’s skin safe from head to toe are sun block and sun screen. Sun block is used to deflect the suns harmful rays, and sun screen is used to absorb them. Both work as effectively as the other. These creams, lotions, and sprays help to prevent your child’s skin from burning. They also help to screen and block out the damaging and potentially perilous UVA and UVB rays that can cause troubles down the road such as premature aging and various types of skin cancers.

Choosing the right sun block or sun screen is very important. First of all, select one that is made especially for children. When you are choosing a sun block or sun screen always make sure that the SPF is 15 or higher for medium to dark completed children. If yours has fair skin, freckles, or moles one with an SPF no lower than 30. Many physicians suggest an SPF of at least 30 for all children. Keep in mind that regardless of which brand you choose it will only offer maximum protection if applied properly and consistently. Follow the directions on the label for best results. Do not use after the expiration date is up. Babies under six months of age should not use sun block or sun screen without the consent of a doctor. Children this young should be kept in the shade due to the sensitivity of their delicate skin.

Another method of skin protection is in the way that you dress your child. When in the direct sun try to keep your child clothed in light, tight woven, breathable fabrics such as cotton. The child should be covered as much as is possible and comfortable. Sun shielding hats or visors, along with socks and shoes are a must. An average T-shirt has an average sun-protection-factor, or SPF of 7 or 8 so it is best to use a sun block or sun screen along with this method.

It is also a good idea to limit outside playtime when the sun is at its’ brightest and hottest, usually between the hours of 11am and 3pm, Seeking shade, and using an umbrella or a canopy on your stroller are a couple of good ways to help avoid the direct sun when it can’t be avoided completely. Keeping outside playtime for early morning or late afternoon will make the hot summer sun less of a threat by not only reducing the risk
of sunburn, heat illness, and sunstroke, but also the risk of dehydration since the heat will not be quite as intense.

So, what if your child already has sunburn? Don’t despair. Here are some tips that are sure to bring comfort to your little one: Try Applying a cool compress such as a washcloth or towel wet with cool tap water, for ten to fifteen minutes, four or five times a day until the redness fades. In-between these treatments use a moisturizing lotion or a sunburn relief spray that is made for children. The gel from the leaves of an aloe plant is also very helpful in taking the sting out of burns of any kind. To use simply cut the leaf lengthwise and generously smooth the gel over the entire burn. The leaf can be put into the refrigerator and used until the gel is gone from it. This should be repeated about every four hours for as long as is needed.

If your child develops blisters, the pain is or seems to be worse than the usual sunburn sting, or if there is vomiting call your Child’s physician immediately. He or she may have heat illness. A special prescription of steroid cream may also be needed to help the burn heal, and to minimize the chances of the blisters becoming infected.
Dehydration is yet another of the common, still serious risks that summer can bring. Dehydration occurs when the body’s fluids are lost and not adequately replaced. This can happen when your child sweats during active play. If these fluids are not replaced the outcome could be fatal.

The warning signs of dehydration come on slowly, and are not always obvious. It is important to watch your child closely for any of the following: Dry cracked lips, dark urine, no daytime urination for four hours or more, sunken eyes, extreme fussiness or
sleepiness (this could also be due to hard play and/or lack of a nap), fast heartbeat, difficulty breathing or catching breath, tearless crying, and listlessness. Your child may all of them, or just one or two. These symptoms are serious and need immediate medical attention.

On hot days and when your child is active fluid intake should be increased from six to eight six ounce servings to eight to ten or more servings per day. The fluids to serve are water, milk, and juice. However, too much juice can cause diarrhea therefore making dehydration more likely to occur rather than preventing it. (Serve only natural fruit juices that do not have added sugars. It is best to dilute them with water.) Sports drinks such are all right in most cases. However, drinks that contain high amounts of sugar or caffeine should never be given to a child, especially on very hot days when they could do more harm than good.

Insect bites are probably the most bothersome out of all summer’s risks. Fortunately,
Ants, bees, deer flies and mosquitoes are an annoyance that can easily be avoided. One of the ideal and safest ways to protect against insect bites is clothing. Try to keep as much of your child covered as is possible, and comfortable. Have him or her wear long sleeve shirts, long pants that are tucked into socks, and of course, shoes. The colors to opt for? Try white, pastel colors, subdued greens, or khaki. These solid shades are less appealing to insects than are the brighter colors, or flashy, flowery prints. Also, try to avoid using scented soaps, perfumes, detergents, lotions, shampoos, and the like during bug season. Insects are attracted to these and similar scents and fragrances. It is also be a good idea to avoid certain areas around your home when the bugs are biting. These areas include damp, swampy places, wooded areas, and spots where brightly colored, atomic flowers, bushes, or tree are planted. The bugs are usually at their worst around dusk so it may be wise to avoid outside play at that time of the day.

Insect repellents will also help to keep the bugs that bug you away. They come in a wide variety of lotions, creams, and sprays that are simple to use and quite effective when used properly. Make sure to only use repellents that are designed especially for children. Watch out for those that contain the chemical DEET, which could be harmful. Products that do contain DEET should have concentrations no higher than ten percent, and should not be used on children under two without the consent of a doctor. Always read the label, or package instructions on how and when to apply before using. Like any other product, if an allergic reaction occurs discontinue use. Check with your child’s doctor if symptoms persist or worsen after discontinuation.
What happens if your child has already been bit? Use calamine lotion to calm the itchy bites such as those of a mosquitoes, gnat, or deer fly. If your child is covered with itchy bites try a colloidal oatmeal bath to bring relief. For a minor bee, wasp, spider, ant, or tick bite wash the affected area well with soap and warm water. (Make sure to rinse well to avoid further irritation.) Apply ice wrapped in a clean towel if there seems to be pain, or if there is swelling. A hydrocortisone cream will stop the itching and reduce the pain. A paste made of baking soda and water can be used as well. Leave the paste on for ten to fifteen minutes or until dry. Reapply as needed.

If you live in an area where poisonous spiders and/or snakes lurk please don’t take any chances. If you did not see the spider or snake that bit your child, or if you are not sure
whether or not it was poisonous, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. It is always superior to be safe than sorry when it is your child’s life at steak.

Two of the most anticipated activities that summer’s heat brings are none other than those of swimming and water play. Unfortunately, out of all of summer’s risks they are also the most dangerous. Hundreds of kids if not more die each year from accidental drowning. Here are some ways to make sure that your child doesn’t fall victim: First and most important: NEVER leave a child unattended near water, or any place else. Close adult supervision is not only necessecary at all times, but should be mandatory. A child can drown in as as an inch of water and it only takes seconds to do so. Supervisors and parents should be familiar with CPR. Sadly, many children’s lives have been lost due to parents and care-givers not knowing CPR.
Devices such as inflatable tubes, rafts, and arm floaters should not be used for very small children. It only takes a second for a child to lose balance, or slip off and into the water and drown. These devices may also give both parent and child a false sense of security. An approved life vest can and should be worn for added protection and water safety. Remember, nothing should ever be used as a replacement of adult supervision.
A couple of smart ideas for increased water safety are: Keep a cordless phone by your side. Have emergency numbers taped to it for swift reference. Also, empty out small pools on a daily basis. This will avoid potential accidents from happening, and ensure proper sanitation.

Summer should be a joyous season that is filled with both fun and laughter, not tragedy. With a few easy preventive measures many unnecessary accidents can be
avoided. Remember to always provide adult supervision at all times whether your child is playing in the back yard, or is near waters edge. When you put together common sense, instincts, and are educated you can help to make your families summer a lot safer and so much more fun. Enjoy the hot summer days; fall will be here before you know it!
